Care & Maintenance Guide

For Artisan Ave Wooden Artworks

Thank you for choosing Artisan Ave.
Our handcrafted wooden pieces, including our signature feather carvings, are made from reclaimed native New Zealand timber. With a little care, they’ll remain beautiful and last for generations.

✨ Why Care Matters

Wood is a living material that responds to its environment.
Over time, small changes in moisture, temperature, and handling can affect its appearance.
Regular, gentle care helps to protect and preserve your artwork, ensuring it remains a stunning centerpiece.

Caring for Your Wooden Feather Art

🧹 Cleaning

- Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth or feather duster.

- For occasional deeper cleaning, lightly wipe with a barely damp, lint-free cloth.

- Never soak or use chemical cleaners — water and harsh products can damage the timber.

🧴 Conditioning (Optional)

To maintain the rich natural tones of the timber, you may occasionally apply a very light coat of a natural wood balm such as our Board Balm.

- Use a soft, clean cloth.

- Apply sparingly, following the grain of the wood.

- Buff gently to restore shine and protect the surface.

👉 Conditioning is optional, but can help revive the timber’s depth and lustre over time.

🚫 What to Avoid

- Avoid placing artwork in direct sunlight for extended periods, as this may cause fading.

- Avoid exposure to high heat, humidity, or moisture (e.g., next to heaters or in bathrooms).

- Avoid hanging or displaying pieces in areas with rapid temperature changes.

Caring for Other Wooden Pieces (If Using Board Balm)

If you purchase our Board Balm to use on your own wooden items (such as bowls, serving boards, or utensils):

- Clean wood first, ensuring it’s dry.

- Apply a small amount of balm with a soft cloth, working with the grain.

- Let absorb overnight if possible, then buff any excess off.

- Repeat every few months, or as needed.

Preserve the Story Behind Your Piece

Each Artisan Ave creation is crafted with care, using timber with its own unique history.
By following these simple care steps, you’ll help preserve not just the piece, but the story behind it.

If you have any questions about looking after your artwork, we’re always happy to help.
